@centali Ok so we already established that pearl probably met ford during the time “we need to talk” happened, so she’d be still very possessive of rose and acting very condescending around greg –

And wouldn’t it be the cutest thing if once she starts doing star chart calculations with ford or calibrating how much tachyon beams reverse the anti reversion of the technobabble with ford … She almost never talks about rose or greg with him and its almost like … At first of course, she always talks *at* him, finally having someone who’ll listen to her ancient gem history lessons but suddenly she actually really looks forward to catching a break, to be able to talk to someone who’s actually on the same intellectual level as her ?

Like … At some point rose asks her if she wants to go on some harmless routine mission alone with her, just rose and pearl, alone together, but oh no, its at the same time pearl and ford wanted to investigate some mutant flowers and pearl actually decides to send garnet instead of going herself and goes to do the mutant flower thing with ford. and rose. Rose is just so happy that she doesn’t have to worry about pearl’s one sided crush anymore and that she’s actually happy with that ford person :’D

And ford needs to meet at least one sentient being who grows to truly love him during his 30 years … Maybe pearl helps him lower his defences, and his “trust no one” paranoia finally gets better ;u;

Also: i want them to hug but i want them both be totally awkward if it comes to kisses or any sexual stuff because if pearl is disgusted by the concept of eating she’ll probably be disgusted by kisses too X’D they mostly cuddle and bonk each other’s heads and are almost always holding hands :’D :’D

Okay, now that I’ve finished squealing like the three year old I’ve been reduced to about this entire post.

AAAAAAH, this is all I want from this ship omg~ TuT These two messed up, damaged, ostracized nerds finally finding someone to help them work past their issues, with Pearl moving on from her unhealthy idolization of and obsession with Rose and finding someone she gradually comes to respect as an equal, and Ford finding someone to start healing the colossal trust issues he has after being betrayed and hurt so many times. I’m sure they’d still drive each other crazy sometimes and have their disagreements, but God, written correctly, this relationship could be so, so very beneficial for the both of them. (And Lord, if Ford were to actually come clean and tell Pearl about how Bill deceived and manipulated and used him to destroy everything and everyone he loved, and/or Pearl opening up about how awfully she was treated back on Homeworld… man, wouldn’t those be some interesting conversations to listen in on, huh?)

Also, that part about them being total shy cuddle bugs around each other and absolutely nothing more is just perfect (mostly because I headcanon Ford as asexual and I need more romantic non-sexual ships in my life ok). 8D I have this fantastic mental image in my head of Pearl marching up to him one day out of the blue, looking vaguely sick (she was doing some… research… and is now thoroughly regretting her life choices) and telling him point blank “About your human mating thing. I want no part of it.” and Ford turns a hilarious shade of beet red all the way up to the tips of his ears and mumbles something about “Yes, quite,” and “Certainly not,” and they never, ever speak of it again. XDDD But yes, all the adorable cuddles and leaning up against each other while they’re doing research and walking places arm-in-arm and bashful hand holding and FOREHEAD BUMPS AJSDFLKJSFKLJS MY FAVORITE THING YES. <33333

And this might be a little off topic, but I can’t stop thinking about that pic you drew of Steven cuddling the cycloptapus and what his reaction might be to this cool old guy that shows up on their doorstep one day out of the blue. And he has six fingers omg so cool! Is he gonna shoot stuff with his awesome big gun? Pearl seems to be really happy to see him for some reason too?? Weird, she normally doesn’t like to socialize with humans very much, but now they’re talking in big long science words and wait… are they going to Pearl’s room????? Pearl? Inviting people?? To her ROOM???? Okay, nothing makes sense anymore, the world has gone to crazytown, where’s the phone, where’s Connie, stop the presses, the apocalypse is nigh!!

It turns out the world isn’t actually ending, but Connie does end up coming over because anyone the Gems know and willingly associate with must be cool, right? And she and Ford end up getting along fantastically within the first 10 minutes of meeting each other and talk for about an hour about their favorite fantasy and sci-fi books while everyone else just looks on bemusedly from the background. It takes Steven about 15 minutes to stop calling him Mr. Pines and start calling him Ford. Connie holds out for a few days before she caves and calls him Ford too. Ford asks a lot of questions about Steven’s half gem nature and about Lion and his shield which then devolves into Steven and Connie regaling him with tales of all their adventures, which Ford dutifully writes down (Connie keeps a diary, b/c of course she does, and she brings it over to help with Ford’s cataloging a couple times), and he’ll tell them some stories of the dimensions he’s seen and the adventures he’s had in turn after they bug him enough times and give him the star eye puppy dog pout. The Gems and Greg will sometimes listen in on the stories too, if they’re around.

Later on, Pearl will occasionally catch Steven giving her and Ford delighted/amused looks when he sees them together like:

He refuses to explain himself when she questions him about it and just kind of mutters something about “them being cute” or some such nonsense before quickly absconding from the immediate vicinity, much to Pearl’s confusion.

Can you tell I have a lot of Feelings and Thoughts about this crossover?

ford discovers that pretty early, so of course he’s super happy because that means he can spend even more time doing science with pearl because she won’t get tired but ford can’t stay awake forever so he works and works and works with her and they are chatting and having fun and they’re working on some aircraft and ford sits on the top and pearl is down below and works on some blueprints and suddenly there’s a crash and she turns around and ford literally fell asleep on the aircraft and fell down and now he’s lying there upside down and i just:

once steven explains to her its nothing serious and that humans need sleep or they get sick she starts being really strict with him, always making sure that they never get too carried away with their projects and carrying him to bed herself if he tries to complain ;u;
